Actually AS-Call Conference Call offers capacity for up to 240 participants in one Conference Call.

Do I need a special telephone system to join a Conference Call ?

No, there is no special telephone system needed. You only need a phone which supports the DTMF-Standard to enter your access data.

In case of problems with accessing the system, the Conference Call member will be connected automatically to the AS-Call Conference Call Operator Service. Our Operator Service will for the Conference Call PIN and in case of the correct PIN, the participant will be put manually through the Conference Call.

Can a Conference Call be reached from foreign countries?

Each Conference Call can be reached from foreign countries. Your allocated German landline number is reachable without restrictions. In case of access from foreign countries you have to use the international access code ( +49 208 … instead of 0208…).

If you use a PROFESSIONAL Conference Call, AS-Call offers all Conference Call members international dial-up numbers, which can be activated by configuring the Conference Call room. Therefore your foreign members have a wide range of local dial-up numbers in different countries:

Which options do I have to select different languages in Conference Calls?

You can set the menu language of each conference room either to German or English .

When using a personal voice prompt we recommend a German and an English version, so the participant of an AS-Call Conference Call will be greeted in the language which is selected in the Conference room.

How does AS-Call Conference Call assist attendees in case of access problems?

In case of access problems, the participant will be automatically connected to the Operator Service. Our Customer Service will ask for the Conference Call PIN and in case of the correct PIN, the participant will be put manually through the conference.

This service is free of charge and can be reached 24/7

Is it possible to hold simultaneous Conference Calls?

Of course. You only need the corresponding quantity of conference rooms within your account. According to your tariff additional conference rooms can be established by yourself in your online account (PROFESSIONAL version) or by our Customer Helpdesk (BASIC version).

Can there be noise interferences during an AS-Call Conference Call?

There will be no noise interferences because of the conference circuit. AS-Call uses ISDN connections to offer the customers a reliable Conference Call system. As-Call Conference Call does not use VOIP connections.

Do I have to announce a Conference Call?

No. After your registration you have permanent access to the AS-Call Conference Call system, no matter how often you use Conference Calls.

Billing Questions:

Who bears the cost of a Conference Call?

The initiator of a Conference Call pays the price per minute for each participant. This depends on the dial-in number and the chosen tariff..

Every participant bears his own costs of the selection of a respective Conference Call.

If the initiator of a Conference Call offers a toll-free number to the participants (0800….), the selection of a Conference Call is free of charge for the participants.

In case of using a 01805-Number the costs are for German landlines 14 Eurocent per minute and max. 42 Eurocent for mobile phones.

Can I initiate a Conference Call without bearing any costs?

In principle, yes. There are no set up costs or monthly fees, and by using 01805 dial-in numbers all costs are beard by the participants.

However, the 01805 dial-in number can only be used from Germany.

How exactly is a Conference Call billed?

The duration of a Conference Call is recorded and billed for each participant through second-based billing. However, for the participants billing and other terms depend on their telephone company and are not in any way influenced by AS-Call Conference Call..

How do I get my monthly invoices?

Every calendar month you receive an invoice of all aggregate costs incurred via email. This service is free of charge. If you want to get your invoice per mail we charge this service with contribution towards expenses. We recommend this service because of tax reasons (value added tax on input).

How can I pay my due invoice?

The easiest way is to participate in direct debit payment. This alternative of bill payment is free of charge and without risk for our customer. The debit advice can be returned within 6 weeks.

We also offer a billing with 7 day terms and charge this service with contribution towards expenses.

Other kinds of settlement, e.g. credit card, Paypal are not supported at the moment.

How can I check the validity of my invoice?

In your AS-Call Online Account you can examine statistics of all past Conference Calls. You can check every bill and the monthly costs already incurred.

Can I use AS-Call without invoice / bank data?

Of course. You can make a bank transfer after receiving your monthly invoice for your conference calls (additional costs 2 € per invoice).

If you do not wish to receive invoices from us, but want to use our conference call services, you can exclusivly use your personal 01805 access number. There will be no costs for you as conference call initiator if all conference call participants use the 01805 access number.

The 01805 access number can be used by all participants from within Germany. Using the 01805 dial-in number costs Germany-wide from fixed networks 14 cents per minute and from mobile networks up to 42 cents per minute. The price per minute includes both, the telephone connection and the cost for using AS-Call Conference Call. So there are no costs for the conference initiator for 01805-participants.

Which functions can a participant control via the telephone keypad?

All participants of a Conference Call can use various functions via the telephone keypad. By pressing the asterisk key [ * ] you get to a menu where you have the following options:

  • [ 5 ] request to speak (only available in PROFESSIONAL tariff)
  • [ 6 ] turn other participants up

Which functions can a moderator use during a Conference Call?

A Conference Call with activated moderating in the BASIC or PROFESSIONAL tariff starts after the moderator logged in. Until the login of the moderator (or after leaving) all other participants will be put on music on-hold.

In the PROFESSIONAL tariff the moderator can use the Live-Webmanager with the following operator functions:

  • Switch a Conference Call participant to silent / to talk
  • Remove a Conference Call participant from the conference
  • Receive a request to speak from a Conference Call participant
  • Lock a Conference Call room
  • Record a Conference Call conversation

The Live-Webmanager offers a visual description of the Conference Call room and its participants.

You can also use various functions via the telephone keypad. By pressing the asterisk key [ * ] you get to a menu where you have the following options:

Questions about Online-Service:

Do I have an invitation assistance tool to convoke a Conference Call?

AS-Call Conference Call offers all customers in their Online Account a tool that helps to invite all participants via email or SMS (only to German mobile phones).

In this computer-produced invitation all relevant pieces of information like the point of time, the proposed duration of the Conference Call, the access number and access data will be delivered to the participants.

For every participant the initiator decides how the invitation will be delivered (email and/or SMS) and in which language it will be send (German or English).

Please consider that invitation via SMS can only be send to German mobile phones. Foreign mobile phones cannot be reached via SMS, therefore you have to invite the participants via email.

Do I have an telephone directory to invite participants?

In case of recurring Conference Calls AS-Call Conference Call offers a built-in telephone directory where all relevant data of participants can be backed up. That eases invitations for future Conference Calls. Of course there is an interface to export and import data.

Can I invite participants in groups?

Yes, you can compile Conference Call groups, which contains certain participants. In case of initiating regular Conference Calls with the same participants this simplifies the invitation procedure in a tremendous way.

Which costs do I bear for using the invitation tool?

Using the invitation tool is free of charge. This applies to invitations via email and SMS. Please consider that invitation via SMS can only be send to German mobile phones. Foreign mobile phones cannot be reached via SMS, therefore you have to invite the participants via email.

Yes, if the recording function is activated the whole conversation will be recorded in the BASIC tariff. At the PROFESSIONAL tariff the system enables you to record the whole or only parts of the Conference Call conversation.

Every participant will be informed about the recording upon beginning or ending the recording.

How do I get recorded Conference Call conversations?

There is a backup for 30 days for all recorded Conference Call conversations. After this period of time the system will delete automatically the expired conversations. With the BASIC tariff you can order the recordings through our Customer Support. This service is fee required.

With the PROFESSIONAL tariff you are able to download the recordings by logging in into your account. This service is free of charge.

All recordings are backed as mp3-files.

Questions about Live-Services

Which functions I can use with the Live display?

The Live display gives you an overview of all Conference Calls. If a Conference Call room is actually occupied you see which participants take part and their telephone numbers where applicable. You can also close a Conference Call via the Live display. Then all participants will be disconnected by the system after being informed through an announcement.

To make sure that a Conference Call is not used unauthorised, all Conference Call rooms can be locked temporarily. Once locked all settings of the (including PIN) are retained, but using of this room is not possible. Before using it again you have to unlock the Conference Call room.

Alternatively you can generate a new Personal Identification Numbers for every single Conference Call. In this case the previous PIN is automatically invalidated.

Which functions I can use with the Live Webmanager?

The Live Webmanager is only available in the PROFESSIONAL tariff and is the main control unit for Conference Calls.

The Live-Webmanager offers a visual description of the Conference Call room and its participants. It enables you to watch and control in real time the actual Conference Calls.

You can use the Live-Webmanager with the following operating functions:

  • Switch a Conference Call participant to silent / to talk
  • Remove a Conference Call participant from the conference
  • Receive a request to speak from a Conference Call participant
  • Lock a Conference Call room
  • Record a Conference Call conversation

Records of Conference Call conversations can be download through your AS-Call Online Account. All recordings are backed as mp3-files and are free of charge.

What is a request to speak?

In case of large Conference Calls where only one or a few participants speaks, it makes sense to mute the other participants to avoid noise interference.

During the Conference Call muted participants can send a request to speak to the moderator. The moderator gets the request by visualizing it in his Live-Webmanager. Then the moderator can decide if he allows the participant to speak.

The participant can send a request to speak via his telephone keypad by pressing the asterisk key [ * ] followed by [ 5 ] (only available in PROFESSIONAL tariff).

Questions about the Interpreter-Service:

How does a Conference Call work with an interpreter?

In case of Conference Calls with foreign-language participants, you can book an interpreter via AS-Infodienste. The interpreter attends the Conference Call at the agreed-upon time and then translates the content of the Conference Call to the attendees.

How can I book an interpreter and is it available on short notice?

AS-Infodienste can offer the interpreter on short notice. However, to receive a commitment it advisable to ask for an interpreter beforehand.

Please ask our Customer Support for booking an interpreter. They will send you an order form in which you will transmit us all relevant data the interpreter has to know for the Conference Call.

In case of contract negotiations or conferences with technical documentations the relevant documents can be send to the interpreter in advance.

What does the service of an interpreter cost?

The price of an interpreter depends on the asked language, the requested interpreter service (consecutive or simultaneous ) and as the case may be the period of vocational adjustment of the interpreter.

There will be also a separate fee if the service is outside business hours. (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm MET).

In addition it is relevant for the pricing if the interpreter needs special skills, e.g. engineering or medical technology. In this case we can send you an individual quotation. The price list for general consecutive interpreter services can be requested at our Customer Support.

Can I use the interpreter around the clock?

Yes, the commitment of an interpreter can be around the clock. Conference Calls with participants from countries with time differences can be realized without problems.

Please note that the booking of an interpreter is only possible within our business hours.

Does an interpreter of a Conference Call has the duty to keep confidential?

All interpreter are duty-bound to keep all information confidential. In case of transferring documents with the interpreter, all document will be deleted after the Conference Call is finished.

If there are Conference Calls with the same content, the documents must be send again to the interpreter. This is necessarily for data protection reasons.

How does translating a Conference Call work?

We offer consecutive or simultaneous interpretation. In case of simultaneous interpretations it is necessarily to contact our customer service, because the Conference Call room must be adapt to the technical requirements for simultaneous interpretation.

Is it possible to interpret a Conference Call in various languages without creating a multilinguistic chaos?

Yes, AS-Call offers an extensive interpretor service. We are able to interpret the content of your Conference Call in 43 different languages. Similar to the simultaneous interpretation, our customer service configures the Conference Call room to adapt to the technical requirements.

To ensure that there is no multilinguistic chaos, we install several rooms for your Conference Call which are linked with each other. The partition into auditor and speaker rooms ensures a trouble-free Conference Call.
